The Splendor of Cranberry Sauce

T'is the season to indulge in the rich holiday foods. The cold weather descends and we desire the meaty stews, celebratory roasted meats, Thanksgiving Turkey, warming foods. We mustn't forget the sauces that round out our plates. Today we'll focus on the bright sweet tartness of cranberry sauce. In the fall cranberries reach their peak color and flavor, beautiful little jewels waiting to be enjoyed. Cranberry Sauce is easy to prepare and a perfect counterpoint to any holiday dinner.


12 ounces Fresh Whole Cranberries
1 cup Water
1 cup Orange Juice
1 cup Sugar
1 stick Cinnamon


  1. Rinse 12-ounce bag of fresh or frozen cranberries, then empty cranberries into a saucepan.
  2. Add 1 cup sugar, water and orange juice and cook over medium high heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the cranberries pop, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. Cool to room temperature before chilling in refrigerator, sauce will thicken as it cools.
