Holiday Celebration Popcorn Bars

The holiday season is upon us and creating seasonal treats to share with colleagues, friends and family is a fun treat for everyone. Serve this at your next holiday potluck party, just place single portions in clear plastic cups on a tray for guests to grab. These sweet indulgences pack neatly in cellophane bags or festive holiday tins, perfect for a host or teacher gift. 

Kagome’s Chef Natalie Cervantes shares her family’s easy recipe for holiday popcorn bars.  It’s kid-friendly and can be ready in 30 short minutes!

This peppermint sweet version is a mixture of fluffy, freshly popped popcorn, chocolatey, crunchy pretzels, spiced gingerbread cookies, and marshmallows all covered in white chocolate and holiday sprinkles. You will not be able to stop eating it! If you are expected extra guests, this recipe easily doubles or triples.  Have fun and enjoy!

Holiday Celebration Popcorn Bars Servings: 12    Prep Time: 10 minutes                       Cook Time: 30 minutes


10 cups Popped Popcorn
10 ounces Marshmallows
1 Cup White Chocolate Chips
4 Tablespoons + Butter + Additional butter for greasing hands
1/2 teaspoon Peppermint Extract
1/4 cup Crushed Peppermint Candies
1/4 cup Crushed Chocolate Covered Pretzels
1/4 cup Crushed Gingerbread Cookies
1/4 cup Holiday Sprinkles


1.     Set aside popped popcorn in a large bowl.

2.     Grease a metal or glass 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.

3.     In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter.  Add marshmallows and stir constantly.

4.     Add white chocolate chips once all the marshmallows have melted, stir constantly.  

5.     Remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract. 

6.     Drizzle about 1/3 of the marshmallow mixture over the popcorn and quickly fold it together with a rubber or silicone spatula. Repeat with the remaining marshmallow mixture and popcorn. 

7.     Sprinkle with crushed peppermint candies over the popcorn and combine until evenly distributed.

8.     Grease hands with a small amount of butter.  Press popcorn mixture into greased baking pan.

9.     Add chocolate covered pretzels, gingerbread cookies, holiday sprinkles, and peppermint candies to the top of the popcorn.  Gently press toppings into the popcorn with greased hands. 

10.  Allow to cool and cut into 2-inch squares.
