Kagome uses strict programs to guarantee the safety and quality of products that are formulated, produced, and packaged to specifications that are agreed to with the customer.

Kagome's extensive quality assurance efforts are based on:

  • Professional training for production and quality assurance team members on a regular basis.
  • Comprehensive preventative maintenance and sanitation programs.
  • A first-class vendor certification program to assure that ingredients and materials meet stringent specifications prior to usage.
  • Metal detection – Calibrated in-line and on-line metal detectors are incorporated in processing lines for food safety assurance.
  • A Food Safety Plan is in place and monthly audits are conducted to assure GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) are effective. These programs are based on HACCP as a methodology and are detailed in every program and process utilized by Kagome.
  • Kagome also employs the Six Sigma DMAIC (Demand Measure Analyze Implement Control) method for documenting continuous improvement.
  • Traceability – Ingredients and packaging materials usage is logged for each batch of product. Manufacturer's date of production and FIFO are used to assure the freshest ingredients possible are utilized. Each package and each case are coded to the customer's specifications and meets internal requirements for accuracy of traceability. Our standard is 100% recovery (from receiving to the distribution center) in less than a 2-hour time frame.
  • Kagome's Allergen and Food Sensitivity Program provides complete assurance for the management and handling of allergens and sensitivities in our facilities. Other special labeling requests such as Halal, All Natural, and GMO free are currently available. Kosher and Organic certification can be provided.

Kagome consistently scores above 95% in customer and independent audits. Kagome participates in more than 8 audits per year including:

Kagome is SQF level 3 Certified, which is the highest rating for global food safety and quality management systems, complying with international and domestic regulatory requirements.
